Freiberg Disease (Koehler II). Revision of 52 patients at a late stage, submitted to Gauthiers operation

ABSTRACT From 1982 to 1989, 70 patients at a late stage of Freibergs disease (Smillies stages III, IV and V1) have been treated according to Gauthiers technique.2 From these, 52 patients have been reviewed. All of them showed thickening of the metatarsal head and a shortening of the metatarsal. Their ages varied from 14 to 67 years (average 40.5). The average time of review was 22 months (1–9 years). 92.3% of good results were obtained.
